Lee Cemetery, Etowah

I began on the east side of the cemetery and recorded from left to right working west.


The Lee Family Cemetery is located on US 411 south, about 3 miles south of Rainbow City, 
Alabama, City Hall at the former site of the original Lee home. The cemetery is located 
on a knawel overlooking Rainbow Drive and facing Dunaway Mountain to the south. 

The oldest marked grave in the cemetery is Charlotte Thompson Lee 1803-1875. 

The cemetery is well maintained by the Lee Family and is beautifully landscaped. 

The Lee family roots in this community can be traced back to the early 1800's. 
The family has contributed greatly to the Rainbow City and Etowah County area in the fields 
of agriculture, aviation, building, education, land development and timber. 
Several of the family members married descendants of the early pioneer families of this area. 
For many years the Lee family operated a large diary and sawmill operation on their farm.
