David C. Montgomery
The subject of this sketch is descended from one of the oldest
families of
Pennsylvania. His ancestors came from Ireland to America in
1732, and settled in
Pennsylvania. Their descendants have become quite numerous, and
are now among
the prominent people of the State. David C. Montgomery was born
in
Northumberland County, Penn., March 20, 1833. He received his
education in the
high school at Wyoming, Penn. In 1855, he went to Minnesota,
where he entered a
body of land and engaged in farming. He was married, at St.
Paul, Minn., in
1855. In 1864, he returned to his old home in Pennsylvania,
where he lived for
years and pursued farming, until coming West, in 1877. In
November of that year,
he located at Pueblo, Colo., where he has since resided. Mr.
Montgomery has been
liberal in investing his means. He now owns much valuable
property at Pueblo,
having himself erected a number of buildings.
