Query
My great great grandmother Anna McCabe
Sullivan, a young widow, traveled on the Oregon Trail just before or during
1870 with a group of other women because she heard men out west were looking
for wives... A man named Charles Ellison was a soldier at Fort Bridger until
Feb. of 1870. The two met someplace..... and married in Oct at Fort Fred
Steele just after he re-enlisted.
I am writing a book about her life and I am
looking for information on -how men advertised they were looking for wives...
-where the two above individuals met. -if either one might be mentioned in the
Fort Laramie area in the 1870 Census. ( I have not found them at Fort Fred
Steele or Fort Bridger). I am sure there is a link somewhere.
Do you know anyone who could help me? Sharon
